The Book

After my father died I found one of his paintings among his things, a picture of a yellow sun with the title Resurrection. In the beginning I liked the picture and kept it. But in the long run I found it too painful, and one day I just threw it away. I’ve regretted it many times since.

Genius loci - work in progress

Genius Loci is a photographic art project exploring refuge and self-discovery through encounters with something greater. I began the work during a period of personal crisis, seeking a deeper connection to the world around me.

The project is centered around Assistens Cemetery, a historic site founded in 1760 and the resting place of many notable cultural figures. Part of the cemetery is still an active burial ground, while the older sections function as a city park with lush greenery. A defining characteristic of the place has always been that people visit not only to mourn but also to picnic, celebrate, and live alongside the dead..

Through my work there, I experienced a presence beyond the visible, especially when inviting others to appear in my images. It felt as though the place itself was communicating.
